Dis is cute, dis is cute...
I first saw Mel Brooks' "The Critic" as a wee lass in Urbana, when my parental units rented it along with several other cartoons and a 16mm film projector for my brother's birthday. So many years passed without my seeing it again, I wondered whether it actually existed, or if I'd somehow invented it via my oft-faulty memory. Luckily, youtube came through - I just entered "Mel Brooks Critic" and got this. Yay youtube. Yay internets. Yay Nina's brain, which still works sometimes.
"The Critic" is awesome. Watch.
Comments:
Every now and then, I'll say to someone, Good luck to you with your coca-roach.
It's also only lately that I learned that it was Mel Brooks doing the voice for that Electric Company guy with the spats and walking stick who would see words written in the wrong order and shout, "Who's the dummy writing this show?"
GEEK ALERT!
Actually they DID run this short on PBS back in the 70's. It was on a program (from KQED, if I'm not mistaken) called The International Animation Festival hosted by Jean Marsh of Upstairs Downstairs fame.
I'm so fricken old!
